Phoenix Rifle Club operates one of the UK’s most unusual indoor shooting environments — a 200m railway tunnel range on Barry Island in South Wales, just outside Cardiff.

The Tunnel provides year-round shooting for precision rifle shooters, full-bore competitors, FAC holders, beginners, Mini Rifle shooters, and target shooting enthusiasts looking for a weather-independent environment to train, test equipment, and improve their marksmanship.

Whether you are completely new to rifle shooting or an experienced long-range shooter, Phoenix Rifle Club offers a safe, professionally supervised, and highly technical shooting environment. Members regularly compete in benchrest, Mini Rifle, and full-bore target disciplines throughout South Wales.

I joined earlier this year as a complete beginner, and they took the time to teach me the basics and share their experience, helping me progress quickly. Very well run Club, it’s an essential facility for someone like myself to zero my rifles and check my home loads before I go out into the field stalking on live quarry.

Awesome place to shoot!
Phoenix Rifle Club in Barry has six lanes from 25m to 200m, so there’s something for everyone. They’ve got a solid mix of club rifles (.22, .174, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308), and you can buy ammo on the day, which is super handy. Staff are great – really friendly and big on safety. Definitely worth checking out!

We had a good experience: The room was clean and well-maintained. The projector/TV screen, speakers, and other equipment worked perfectly. Were every one is so friendly men and women there is always someone there to help you if you have a problem you can shoot from 25 metres up to 200 metres in the dry and out of the wind and cold weather

Phoenix Rifle Club is a gem, with an amazing Shooting Range, all the while, we have a family-orientated club. The facility is comfortable and friendly, Range Safety Officers run the facility and help you settle in. You can shoot anything from an air pistol to a 338 Lapua at various distances. I spend as much time as I can down this club. I love to shoot. We have 5 guns on the licence and get lots of help from others as some members have been shooting all their lives. We are a small friendly club and welcome new members. You can pop down have a look and shoot for a small fee to cover insurance and ammo. As a female I am treated well and given lots of advice. And we have a few other ladies as members. So if you fancy some fun pop down and join in
