Membership applications are paused until 1 April 2027
We are not taking new membership applications at the moment. Applications reopen on 1 April 2027, in time for the membership year that begins on 1 June 2027.
Shooting is unaffected. Mini Rifle guest sessions (£25) and visitor sessions for certificate holders (£30) run as normal — see Prices and Booking.
A Mini Rifle guest session at Phoenix Rifle Club costs £25. That includes the lane, a .22LR rifle, 50 rounds of ammunition and Range Officer supervision throughout. You do not need a firearms licence and you do not need your own rifle. You do not have to be a member yourself, but an existing club member must come along and be with you for the session.

Trying shooting without joining
The Mini Rifle guest session is how most people shoot here for the first time. Everything is supplied and a Range Officer stays with you for the whole session, so no previous experience is needed.
- An existing club member must attend the session with you
- No firearms certificate required
- No equipment required — rifle, ammunition and ear and eye protection are provided
- Minimum age 14. Under-18s shoot under the supervision of a qualified adult over 21
- Shooting takes place at our indoor 200m range, so sessions run whatever the weather
How to book
Message us on WhatsApp at 07714 774028, or telephone 01446 746375. Tell us how many people are coming and which day suits you, and we will confirm a time slot.
We confirm sessions individually rather than taking instant online bookings, because every session needs a Range Officer on duty and that cover is arranged in advance. It usually takes a day or two to come back to you.
When we are open
- Wednesday 07:00 – 20:00
- Saturday 07:00 – 15:00
- Sunday 07:00 – 15:00
- Air Rifle night 16:00 – 20:00, second and fourth Thursday of the month
- Range Officer sessions 16:00 – 20:00, first and third Thursday of the month
Booking the range for your own group
A party of certificate holders can book The Tunnel outside our regular opening hours and have the range to themselves. The cost is £50.00 per hour for each shooter.
- Every shooter must hold a firearms certificate and carry personal insurance (BASC, C^3 or equivalent)
- The booking must fall outside our regular opening hours
- The organising party arranges Range Officers for each session, certified by the NRA or NSRA
- The range holds a maximum of 7 shooters at a time, and rifle rack space is limited, so tell us how many rifles you are bringing
- The day splits into two 3-hour blocks, 10:00 – 13:00 and 14:00 – 17:00. We open an hour early so you can set up
- We need your registration at least 14 days ahead so we can process the party and allocate time slots
- The prep room has tea and coffee facilities — bring your own fresh milk
Registration is through the visitor application form, which records the certificate, insurance and rifle details we need for every shooter in the party. If you want to check a date before filling it in, message us on WhatsApp at 07714 774028 or telephone 01446 746375. For company days, team events and product launches, see Corporate and Group Events.
What membership adds
Members shoot on any opening day and have access to the club armoury, which covers .22LR and .17 HMR through to .338 Lapua Magnum. Members are also supported through their firearms certificate application, with the Club acting as sponsor. New members complete induction training and a probationary period before applying for full membership.
Full details are on the Membership and Firearms Licencing page, and common questions are answered in the Membership FAQs and the New Member FAQs.
