We are not taking new membership applications at the moment. Applications reopen on 1 April 2027, in time for the membership year that begins on 1 June 2027.

Shooting is unaffected. Mini Rifle guest sessions (£25) and visitor sessions for certificate holders (£30) run as normal — see Prices and Booking.

The Phoenix Rifle Club is the rebirth of a previous club that has been around for over 20 years. It operates 3 days a week for its members (Wed/Sat/Sun). Whether you’re new to the sport or a veteran with a Firearms License, this may be the Shooting Tunnel for you. From a day pass to full membership, this location supports your needs safely, alongside a group of people who are passionate about the sport. The Club also has its own equipment for novice shooters, so you can try different calibre rifles. This helps you grow your competency toward becoming a FAC-certified member.

The Process

The Club Secretary interviews interested new members and walks them through the facility, its rules, and its regulations. During this process, the Secretary assesses whether the applicant is a good fit for the club and its environment. Following the application, you must complete induction training before you take your first steps using a firearm on the range.

An important goal for the club is to help members reach a competency level and hold their own Firearms License (FAC). Staff members help you reach this level of competency and support you with your application. The Club Secretary then sponsors your application once all requirements and reviews are complete. For example, applying for your FAC can take as little as 3 months, though it must happen within a year of joining the Club.

Would you like to make this a regular part of your life and join a group of active members? Contact us using the form below to set up an appointment with our Club Secretary.

The Costs

Yearly Membership fee: £250/yr, reviewed annually. Family/Junior members pay £100/yr. Pay by Bank Transfer (CHAPS) only. Yearly renewals fall on June 1st and must be in by July 1st.

Disqualification: Not everyone is suitable for this kind of activity. If your medical background, criminal background, or personal references suggest you might not be suited for the sport, this will hurt your chances. It could prevent you from getting a FAC certificate and becoming a qualified member. Be clear on what to expect: the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act does not apply to shooting clubs. The Police, Special Branch, and MI5 will investigate the background of anyone applying for membership of the Phoenix Rifle Club. If you have any sort of criminal record, please do not apply for membership. We will reject the application, and the police will not grant the FAC either. If you’re an international permanent resident, your background check will also extend to the countries you’ve previously lived in.

New Membership Requirements:

NOTE: Membership is Open for 2026

Membership applications for 2026 are currently open.

So, get in touch using the form below to arrange an interview with our Club Secretary and start the application process.

New Mandatory Documentation Requirements (Effective 2026)

Beginning in 2026, all Phoenix Rifle Club membership applicants must submit the following as part of the application process:

1. Medical Proforma

A completed Medical Proforma from medcert.co.uk.
If you use your local GP, the Proforma is the GP Proforma form.

2. Declaration of Drug Usage

Applicants must provide a declaration regarding any history of drug usage (Yes/No).

  • If “Yes”, applicants must also indicate whether they agree to undertake a drug test (Yes/No).

3. ACRO Criminal Record Disclosure

If an applicant has any criminal history to declare, they must submit an ACRO Criminal Record Disclosure.

Optional Supporting Documentation

Applicants may choose to provide additional supporting documents. Choosing not to do so will form part of the overall suitability assessment, and we may decline the application as a result.

These new requirements form part of Phoenix Rifle Club’s strengthened internal governance and suitability framework and are mandatory for all applicants.

Integrity Clause for All Applications

Phoenix Rifle Club will now include an explicit “Integrity Declaration” within the membership application:

Any intentionally misleading information, including lying by omission, will result in an automatic decline and placement on the Phoenix Rifle Club banned list.

This measure safeguards the integrity of the Club and supports ongoing cooperation with South Wales Police. It ensures transparency and trust throughout the application process.
